Seeds are the products of fertilisation. In a few flowering plants, such as some species of Asteraceae and grasses, have evolved a special mechanism, to produce seeds without fertilisation, called apomixis. Thus, apomixis is a form of asexual reproduction that mimics sexual reproduction.
